While a great deal of archaeological research takes place outside, it's the research that's done indoors typically forms the s human behavior in prehistory. The analysis phase helps to quantify the material recovered from the archaeological site and provides new information.

In a traditional lithic analysis, the artifacts must first be counted and weighed. After this information has been quantified,  specific material, typological, morphological, or functional analyses can provide a detailed interpretation of tool-use in prehistoric contexts. Here, you can see me measuring a tool with digital calipers. These data provide the basis for inter- and intra-site comparison, which I will conduct through a multivariate statistical analysis.
