siIn June 2017, I returned to Clearview with a crew of seven archaeologists, including Kate Yeske, Julia Kenyon, Dougless Skinner, Nicki Edwards, and Pierce Bateman. During a short two-week excavation, this crew excavated 12 units. We found more than 40 tools, including the end scraper, to the left, that was likely used for hide processing. We also found hundreds of pieces of lithic debitage, which was sent back to the University of Michigan for analysis.
This summer, we decided on a name for XMH-1303: The Clearview Site. The site typically offers a great view of the Alaska Range and Donnelly Dome to the West, which is traditionally called "The Heart Among the Ice". The site's full name is Clear View of the Heart.
